Last week: For many, over the last few months, Donald Trump was an amusing carnival act. He's amusing no longer. Rather, he's our founding fathers' worst nightmare, an individual more concerned with personal aggrandizement than with the welfare of our country. His comments on nuclear weapons and women who choose to terminate their pregnancies are just the latest examples of his callousness and ignorance. He is the embodiment of the aptly named Know Nothing Party formed in response to the influx of mainly German and Irish Catholics, McCarthy and his scare tactics, and George Wallace, who likewise preyed on the fears of the ignorant.
